Apple Brownies

This is a very tasty and I say you can consider "healthy" treat. What?....it has lots of apples in it....so what if it has a stick of butter too!? I remember eating these growing up and they were always so moist and delicious. They are very simple and fast and uses ingredients you would already have.

Ingredients:

1/2 cup sugar
1 stick butter, softened
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
3 apples

1. Beat sugar, butter, egg, and vanilla.
2. Add flour, salt, baking powder, and baking soda.
3. Peel and dice apples. Stir them into dough.
4. Pour into greased 9x9 baking dish. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes.

The apples are better if you take the time to cut them fairly small. My mom says that the real recipe uses 1 cup of sugar but she changed it to 1/2 cup. I found that 1/2 cup was plenty. If you were using really tart apples you might want to add more though. I also used 4 apples because two of mine were really tiny. I would guess 3 medium is enough so if you have small ones add a little extra and if you have huge apples use one less? I don't think you can mess this one up!
