Cinnamon Syrup
We are huge breakfast fans so I am always making something that has syrup on it. I saw this cinnamon syrup recipe and it sounded so interesting I just had to try it. I'm glad I did. This is really yummy and just switches things up from the norm. Ingredients
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1/4 cup water
3 Tablespoons light corn syrup
In a small saucepan, combine all ingredients. Cook and stir over medium heat 10 to 15 minutes or until sugar dissolves and mixture thickens slightly. Pour into serving dish. Makes about 1 cup.
The other night I made pumpkin pancakes for dinner and found a different cinnamon syrup recipe. It was kind of weird. Too liquidy but had good flavor still. Maybe I should have boiled it longer or added more corn syrup? Anyway, here is another one in case your interested:
1 1/3 cups sugar
1/3 cup water
2/3 cup corn syrup
1 tsp. cinnamon
5 oz. evaporated milk
1/2 tsp. almond extract
1 tbsp. butter
Combine sugar, water, syrup, and cinnamon. Boil for 2 minutes. Remove from heat; add milk, almond extract, and butter. Serve over pancakes, waffles, or French toast. Makes about 2 cups.
I got it from a ward cook book from my MIL.
