Halloween Decorations
I saw this idea last year on someone's blog and loved it. Since then, I've seen lots of really neat decorations made with branches. You can spray-paint them white and hang eggs and use pastel ribbon for Easter. I just went in the yard and cut some branches then spray-painted them black. Then you put them in the vase and then pour in the candy corn. You can't push the branches into the candy. It doesn't work. Then you can just tie on Halloween ribbon or even hang spiders or other Halloween themed items.
My mother-in-law sent me ribbon last year with the idea of putting it around little pumpkins. I have to admit I never did it because I never found any little pumpkins. This year I got some right away and wrapped my ribbon around them. Cute and simple decoration. I just wish I had one of those nice platter/bowls to display them in.
This year I decided my little guy needed a trick-or-treating bag. He loves spiders right now so I just printed off a picture from the computer and used that as my guide. You can't really tell but I did reverse applique for this spider. Basically, you put the fabric on the back side and sew around it. Then you cut out the top fabric to reveal the fabric underneath. I lined the bag and used some 1.5" ribbon for the handles. I also squared the corners just a little bit. Hopefully it works nicely to hold all his candy.
