my first quilt
So I made a quilt. Like a real one. More than just squares sewn together and then tied at the corners with yarn and huge batting in the middle and horrible binding. This is the real deal. I used a pattern I found called ragged squares quilt. I love how it came out. The only thing I hate is the fact that I used orange for the binding. I don't know what I was thinking. For some reason I was thinking to match the back but then realized that I should have made it blend with the front- duh!
I think the piecing of the back is my favorite part of the quilt. I love how it looks. It actually saved me because I wouldn't have had enough fabric to cover the back if I hadn't done that. I was planning it anyway but in the end it turned out I would have had to do it regardless. I hand stitched the binding on using this tutorial. It was actually really easy and fun. It just made my finger sore. I guess that is what a thimble is for- I've always wondered.
I made the quilt for my son's bed. He is just in a toddler bed so the quilt is crib size. I wish it was bigger but it was perfect for my first attempt. Now I need to get working on a quilt for my girl. I've had all this pink fabric forever and it is all cut but I've never gotten around to sewing it together. I was planning on making something like this quilt. We'll see if that ever gets done.....or even started:)

I LOVE IT! Good job. BUT...haven't you made a quilt before? You made the sun quilt in high school, right?
I love it! And I think the orange binding looks cute on the front.
And you're right, the back is awesome! I love that it's not just a plain back. I'm going to use that idea on my next quilt (whenever that is).
And that little girl quilt is adorable!!!
That looks so good! I love it. I would love to hire you to make things for me since I am too lazy to try it myself :)
