Homemade Brownies

I am all for using a brownie mix but sometimes brownies from scratch are so worth it. My mom has a really really good recipe that she uses. I need to get that sometime. Anyway, I have a really good one that I use from the back of the Hershey's cocoa powder container. Unfortunately this batch I made I over cooked but normally they are so soft and chewy and delish. I usually only like my brownies cold so the chocolate chips are hard. Same with my cookies. I like most dessert cold from the fridge much better than hot.

Chewy Cocoa Brownies

1 2/3 cups sugar
3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) butter, melted
2 tbsp. water
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
1 1/3 cups flour
3/4 cup baking cocoa
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 cup chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease 13x9 baking dish.

Combine sugar, butter and water in large bowl. Stir in eggs and vanilla. Combine flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt in medium bowl; stir into sugar mixture. Stir in chocolate chips. Spread into prepared baking pan.

Bake for 18 to 25 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out slightly sticky. Cool completely in pan on wire rack. Makes 2 dozen brownies.
